MARINE ENGINEERING AND THE ROLE OF MARINE ENGINEERS
A Marine Engineer is in-charge of operation and maintenance of all machinery on board merchant ships. Today’s ships are technologically highly advanced and the engineer needs to understand various disciplines including mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulic, structural and naval architectural concepts. The Shipping has come a long way and is developing continuously to meet the challenges of harmonizing security and environmental aspects with safe and efficient operation at sea.
CAREER PROSPECTS FOR MARINE ENGINEER
After the cadets complete the four year Marine Engineering course and a four-Modular course successfully, the student is eligible, to be appointed as Junior Engineer on Merchant Ships. On completion of the stipulated period on ships and after passing the required competency Examination conducted by the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India or Marine Administration of other governments, the Engineer becomes a Chief Engineer of a ship within 6 to 7 years. The academy assists necessary guidance for placement for successful meritorious students.
GROWTH TO BECOME A CHIEF ENGINEER
PHASE 1 : After 4 years Marine Engineering Course Join Us Marine 5th Engineer (Salary 800 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 60,000 Per Month)
PHASE 2 : After 6 months sea Service & passing MEO Class IV Exam Promoted as 4th Engineer & 3rd Engineer (Salary 2,500 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 1.8 Lakhs Per Month)
PHASE 3 : After 12 months sea Service & passing MEO Class II Exam Promoted & as sea Service Promoted as 2nd Engineer
(Salary 6,000 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 4.5 Lakhs Per Month)
PHASE 4 : with further Sea Experience & passing MEO Class I Exam eligible to be Promoted Chief Engineer (Salary 10,000 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 7.5 Lakhs Per Month)

Pass in HSC / (10+2) from a Recognized Board With 60% Average in PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics Subject).
